America celebrates July 4th, 1776 as a patriotic holiday. It was the day the Continental Congress declared its vote on July 2nd to be independent and free of British monarchy. Henceforth, the 13 colonies could dictate their own future for its citizens. Christians have a similar date of celebration. But not all on the same day. It is the moment God declares them free from sin, based on the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. Christians are free not to feel guilty, free to serve others benevolently, and free to worship in the church of their choice. Let each of us experience the moment of salvation when we trust in Jesus, that He is the “door” to Heaven and has declared us free indeed based on God’s grace. What is your day of celebration? Is it now? Romans 3:23 states, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.” While celebrating America’s freedom, celebrate yours, too.
